Tiangong: Expedition 10

Expedition 10 began with undocking of Shenzhou-21 on November 14, 2025.

Zhang Lu and Wu Fei performed perform the first spacewalk on December 09, 2025 (8h 17m). The Shenzhou-21 crew astronauts Zhang Lu, Wu Fei and Zhang Hongzhang worked closely together, and with the support of ground scientific researchers to the astronauts exited the Wentian module, while Zhang Hongzhang remained in Tiangong. They successfully completed tasks including inspecting and photographing the windows of the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft's return capsule, installing the space debris protection device on the space station, and replacing the multi-layer cover of the temperature control adapter.
They meticulously documented the damaged window on the return module of the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft. After evaluation, a decision will be made regarding its future. It seems highly likely that a protective element will be installed and the spacecraft will be returned unmanned.

At 11:35 UTC on March 16, 2026, after a 7-hour extravehicular activity, the Shenzhou-21 crew of astronauts Zhang Lu, Wu Fei and Zhang Hongzhang, working closely together with the support of the space station's robotic arm and ground researchers, successfully completed tasks including the installation of space debris protection devices. Astronauts Zhang Lu and Wu Fei have safely returned to the Wentian experimental module, marking a complete success for the extravehicular activity. Astronaut Zhang Lu has now conducted a total of 6 extravehicular activities, making him one of the Chinese astronauts with the most extravehicular missions to date.

At 17:36 UTC on April 16, 2026 - following approximately 5.5 hours of extravehicular activity (EVA) - the Shenzhou-21 crew members, taikonauts Zhang Lu, Wu Fei and Zhang Hongzhang, worked in close coordination to successfully complete a series of tasks, including the installation of space debris protection devices and the inspection of external equipment and facilities. These operations were carried out with the collaborative support of the space station's robotic arm and ground-based research personnel.
Astronauts Zhang Lu and Wu Fei have safely returned to the Wentian experimental module, marking a complete success for the extravehicular activity. Astronaut Zhang Lu has now conducted a total of 7 extravehicular activities, making him one of the Chinese astronauts with the most extravehicular missions to date.

According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, at 08:34 UTC on May 06, 2026, the Tianzhou-9 cargo spacecraft successfully detached from the space station module and entered its independent flight phase. It will undergo controlled reentry into the atmosphere in the near future. A small amount of debris remaining after ablation during reentry will fall into a designated safe sea area.

The unmanned freighter Tianzhou-10 launched on May 11, 2026 at 00:14:32.318 UTC from Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site. About 10 minutes later, the Tianzhou-10 separated from the rocket & entered its orbit. Its solar panels deployed later, marking a complete success of the launch.
Tianzhou-10 delivers nearly 6.3 tonnes of supplies - mostly essentials for Shenzhou-23 and Shenzhou-24 crews during their missions. The supplies include over 220 items for the astronaut, space station, cargo spacecraft, and space application systems, plus 700 kg of propellant.
The spacecraft also carried a new extravehicular activity (EVA) suit, a space treadmill, and six experimental payloads.
Notably, following the two new EVA suits carried on the previous Tianzhou-9 mission, another identical suit will be carried. This signifies a complete upgrade of the EVA suits used for astronauts' extravehicular activities on the space station. In addition, the spacecraft carries a new space treadmill and six scientific experiment payloads, totaling approximately 280 kilograms. These payloads will primarily be used for space science experiments in microgravity environments, focusing on fluid physics and cutting-edge aerospace technologies. This is the largest number of uphill payloads carried since the space station's construction began.
The Tianzhou-10 cargo spacecraft has at 05:11 UTC successfully docked at the rear docking port of Tianhe, the core module of China's space station.

Expedition 10 concluded with undocking of Shenzhou-22 on May 29, 2026.
